A WHITE FLOWER FLOOR LIGHT BY OLIVIER MOURGUE FOR DISDEROT, MODEL 2093-225

France, 1968

A 1960s Model 2093-225 standard lamp by Olivier Mourgue, designed for Disderot. The chrome metal stand with two pop art flowers, with bulb fittings to the centre. The lights adjustable on the stem.

“In 1967, Olivier Mourgue invented a flower shaped lighting device, made of aluminium petals fixed on two chromed metal wires, for sconces, ceiling lights and standing lamps.

He used a silver caped bulb, which was new at the time, and produced very high quality reflected lighting.”

Pascal and Olivier Mourgue were two French brothers and designers. They are renowned worldwide for their ability to combine comfort and aestheticism. Olivier designed numerous famed pieces of furniture, including the Djinn lounge chair (1964) which is used in 2001: A Space Odyssey by Stanley Kubrick.
